Regardless of space or budget, you can turn your closet into something special. All it takes is organization and a little attention to detail.

If you’re looking for a simple solution, try installing multi-level hanging rods, with shelves below. This option provides additional storage and looks better than the standard wire hanging system that most homebuilders install. Alternatively, purchase attractive craft carts with pullout drawers and place them next to each other for a faux custom look.
Furniture. Don’t rule out using furniture in your closet. You’d be surprised what you can create by repurposing existing furniture. For example, a bookshelf is a great option to display accessories and store shoes. A dresser may fit on an open wall or tucked underneath a high row of hanging dress shirts or jackets.
DIY options. If you don’t mind putting in a little “sweat equity,”create your own storage solutions. For example, metal mesh or chicken wire can be used to store high heels.
