With the holidays upon us, consumers will be inundated with sales and discounts on a range of home-related products. While Black Friday may be over, there’s still plenty of time to score some excellent deals. Here’s a look at the biggest December discounts.
Big-screen TVs, home theater accessories and gaming systems. The sales on these popular holiday gifts will continue through December, though rock-bottom prices may have already occurred in November.
Tools. A popular classic gift for the handyman or woman, tools of all sorts and tool boxes will be on sale this month. Look for the biggest discounts on the latest and greatest styles and models.
Kitchen gadgets. Lots of the smaller home appliances, which are popular as gifts, will be deeply discounted into December as retailers try to entice last-minute shoppers. Expect coffee makers, blenders, toaster ovens, and pressure cookers to be among the most heavily discounted.
Sewing machines. Expect sales on sewing machines, a classic holiday gift, according to Consumer Reports.
Christmas clearance. From Dec. 26 through Dec. 31, expect deep discounts on holiday decor, small appliances and household helpers such as gift wrap, tape, and scissors. Discounts can be as deep as 90 percent.
Air conditioners. Both window and central air conditioning systems are at their cheapest prices in the fall and winter. As the demand for these products drops so do the prices.
Shop smart. Before making any major purchase, do your homework. Consumer advocacy groups, websites, and magazines such as Consumer Reports, Wise Bread, Nerd Wallet, and Money, regularly publish buying guides and tips.
