If you love outdoor entertaining, it might be time to think outside the four corners of your patio or screened-in porch. By creating a secondary outdoor spot, you’ll not only have extra seating but also another space to have fun with family and friends.
Relaxing while dining. Adjacent to your deck or patio, create an outdoor kitchen with a grill, small refrigerator, maybe a sink and even an outdoor pizza oven. Conveniently located nearby will be your outdoor dining table and chairs. Think comfort for the table and chairs since the focus is meal time together.
Conversation seating around a fire. Apart from the dining area, arrange lounge furniture around a fire pit as the focal point for relaxing conversations. The furniture could include anything from couches and chairs to more rustic benches or stools.
Outdoor television. A high-definition television can provide the focal point for a secondary seating area, though it would have to be located under a covered porch or patio, safe from weather. The seating could be either dining or lounging.
Lounging by the pool. Pool owners will definitely want furniture situated around the pool deck. Most common are chaise lounges for stretching out but a table and chairs for poolside drinks and snacks is also nice. For easy repositioning at different times of the day, go for lighter weight choices.
Settings. Work with the layout of your particular backyard. If, for example, the yard is sloped, having a tiered deck or patio will provide seating on each level, creating a cascading flow of entertainment settings.
