There’s nothing like watching your favorite movies or gaming on a big-screen, high-definition TV. With technology and home furnishing trends constantly evolving, what is the latest in home theaters?
The room. One of the things that made home theaters so unique when they first became popular was having a dedicated room with few, if any, windows to create that dark theater effect. Though dedicated home theater rooms are still popular, one rising trend is to incorporate the theater technology into family rooms or living rooms where family and friends normally gather. The downside is that these rooms usually will have more windows admitting light. Fitting the theater equipment into the space and creating theater seating can also be a challenge in a multi-purpose room.
Multiple screens. Multiple screens are another new favorite. Positioning them at different angles, where the viewer can have multiple videos going at once, is even better. Control the audio with a remote.
3-D TV. Since it began rolling out a few years ago, 3-D TV technology has continued to improve while the price, as it always does with technology, has come down, fueling its popularity.
Streaming online content and social media. The internet is revolutionizing how we watch TV, which means new gadgets and devices to deliver the content, bypassing cable and satellite service. Netflix, Sling TV and Amazon are just some of the content providers. Devices such as Chromecast and Roku help you move the stream from your computer, phone or tablet to your big screen TV. Apple TV serves both roles, connecting you to content and providing the streaming device to the TV.
